Back in 2019 we partnered with Giraffe Conservation Foundation to support the translocation of Critically Endangered Nubian Giraffe from Murchison Falls in Uganda to Pian Upe.

Pian Upe was once home to Uganda’s largest population of giraffe, but sadly by the mid 1990s giraffe were locally extinct there.

Together with the Uganda Wildlife Authority and other partners, GCF led two ambitious conservation translocations to return Nubian giraffe to their historical stronghold.

The giraffe settled in well and we have been keeping up to date with their progress. With two calves born since the first move in 2019 - the most recent just weeks ago - we are all very positive about the future of giraffe in Uganda and very proud to have been able to support this initiative.
